Taggart, who is a native of Draper, Utah, came back home after initially committing to Oregon in 2022. He played his first two seasons at BYU and racked up 69 total tackles with three PDUs, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception.
A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Taggart got offers from several Power Four programs. Oregon was the top choice, but he moved on after not being able to contribute right away.
Cal gets an immediate boost in the defense next year. For Taggart, he'll experience his third conference in four years. He has two years of eligibility remaining in Berkeley.
