Former Colorado player faces backlash for re-entering transfer portal after tampering

Former Colorado running back Isaiah Augustave committed to Virginia back in April after leaving Boulder. However, he had not officially signed with the program or enrolled. On Wednesday, he announced he would be re-entering the transfer portal and decommitting from UVA.

According to 247Sports, Augustave had an issue with credits, which held him back from signing. He led the Buffs rarely-used rushing attack with 384 yards last season.

What makes Augustave's transfer to Virginia interesting is the dramatic storyline behind it all. Deion Sanders made headlines in April when he called out Virginia's staff for tampering with Augustave and CU safety Carter Stoutmire. Coach Prime claims UVA "offered a bag" for them to enter the transfer portal and commit. Augustave got away and Stoutmire stayed.

"Virginia, you got to stop," Sanders told his team following a spring practice, per Well Off Media. "I'll let you have one. I ain't say nothing about it. C'mon now. Come on. We let you have one. I ain't say nothing about it."

As of now, Augustave is in the process of finding a new home with Colorado likely out of the running.

The Buffs desperately need to build up the running back room, but Sanders doesn't often allow players who've hit the portal a second chance. Colorado lost running back Brandon Hood to the portal last month and haven't found his replacement. Former Incarnate Word standout DeKalon Taylor joins Charlie Offerdahl, Dallan Hayden and Micah Welch as the Buffs' current rotation.
