Wednesday brought significant development in Miami's offseason makeover as freshman wing Marcus Allen, a Missouri transfer, officially committed to the Hurricanes via the NCAA transfer portal.

Allen, a 6-foot-6 guard out of Norland High in Miami, was a four-star recruit before committing to play for the Tigers in 2024, per 247Sports

At Missouri, he saw action in 26 games, logging 9.2 minutes per contest and averaging 2.6 points with 2.0 rebounds.

On January 1, he had his best game of the season, recording nine points, five rebounds, and three steals in 22 minutes of playtime in a loss to Auburn.

Miami was one of the programs that first showed interest in Allen coming out of high school, alongside Missouri, Florida State, Indiana and others.

Now, he's headed home to South Beach, joining new head coach and former Duke assistant, Jai Lucas.

A former McDonald's All-American, Lucas was an assistant at Texas and Kentucky before joining the Duke staff from 2022 to 2025.

Following a successful 2024-25 campaign as the assistant head coach behind Jon Scheyer, Lucas was named the head coach of the Hurricanes.

For Miami, who endured an abysmal 7-24 record and finished last in the ACC a season ago, going 3-17 in conference play, Allen's commitment couldn't come at a better time.

With Allen officially on board, the Hurricanes now boast depth on the wing and can better withstand the attrition that plagued them last season.
