Former Georgia Tech quarterback Zach Gibson entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago and today, it was revealed where he is going to finish his college career.

Gibson is going to be staying in Atlanta to play for Georgia State. Coincidentally, Georgia Tech and Georgia State play next season on August 31st, the first home game of the year for the Yellow Jackets. Gibson's brother Tyler announced last night that he is going to be transferring from Georgia Tech to Charlotte.

From our very own Rohan Roman:

"In his time at Georgia Tech, Gibson played in six games, starting three after former starter Jeff Sims went down with an injury. He threw for 589 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions on a 54.8% completion percentage. The highlight of his tenure at Tech came against No. 13 North Carolina, where he completed 72.2% of his passes for 184 yards and led the GT offense to a massive upset win. He also played well against Georgia, posting a season-high 191 yards on a 54.2% completion percentage as the Jackets played an excellent first half of offense before faltering against the eventual national champions.

Gibson was a part of the competition for the starting QB spot against Haynes King and Zach Pyron but ultimately lost out to King. He did not appear in a game during the 2023 season."

Gibson had to fill in at quarterback during the 2022 season though there were ups and downs, he delivered in some big moments for the Yellow Jackets. He guided the team to a huge upset win over North Carolina on the road and then came out and played pretty well against No. 1 Georgia.

He battled it out with King and Pyron, but ultimately lost out to the other quarterbacks and then King had one of the best single seasons for a quarterback in Georgia Tech history.

King’s 2,842 passing yards are the fourth-most in Georgia Tech single-season history and the most since George Godsey’s school-record 3,085 in 2001. The 27 touchdown passes he threw are the second-most in Georgia Tech's single-season history, behind only Hamilton’s school-record 29 in 1999. King’s 3,578 yards of total offense are the second-most in Georgia Tech single-season history, behind only Joe Hamilton’s 3,794 in 1999.
