Former Michigan QB Delivers Verdict on Sherrone Moore After Major Recruiting Win

Despite Michigan's underwhelming 8-5 record last season, many are still high on the Big Ten powerhouse. Even in what some may view as a down year, the Wolverines rallied late in the year with a blowout 50-6 win in a November 23 game against Northwestern to secure bowl eligibility and then followed that up with a huge upset, a 13-10 road win against bitter rival Ohio State.

Michigan then capped off 2024 with a season-ending ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama. The results on the field and the hard work from Michigan coach Sherrone Moore yielded even better results on the recruiting trail.

"Big Blue" finished this past cycle with a No. 6 finish in On3's 2025 team recruiting rankings, which included two five-star additions: quarterback Bryce Underwood and offensive tackle Andrew Babalola.

The good news for the program is that the hot streak is continuing into the 2026 class. On Sunday, the Wolverines received a commitment from five-star EDGE Carter Meadows.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound defender chose Michigan over Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina and others.

In reaction to another big recruiting win for Moore, former Michigan quarterback David Cone, a co-host from The Daily Wire's "Crain and Company" podcast, shared his high opinion of the work done by the head coach.

"Sherrone Moore is on a generational run ," said Cone.

Meadows is now the Wolverines' highest-rated prospect, per On3. Michigan has already secured several defensive line and EDGE prospects in this class, including Titan Davis, McHale Blade and Alister Vallejo, all of whom are four-star recruits.

The Washington, D.C., native is described as a "rangy EDGE prospect with a rare combination of frame and movement skills," and "one of the most physically impressive prospects in the 2026 cycle," according to On3's Charles Power.
