The Michigan Wolverines faced significant player losses this offseason through the transfer portal, including a surprising departure by wide receiver Tyler Morris. The senior from Illinois opted to join Indiana for his final college season, but that plan is now on hold.
This week, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti announced that Morris has sustained a non-contact knee injury, which will necessitate surgery, sidelining him for the entire year.

Morris entered the transfer portal on December 3 and made the move to Indiana about a month later. Last season, he was Michigan’s leading wide receiver, albeit with modest stats, catching 23 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns.
His most notable moment with Michigan came during the Rose Bowl against Alabama, where he caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from J.J. McCarthy, significantly impacting the game.
This is truly unfortunate news that is hard to hear. While details on which knee he injured are unclear, it’s worth noting that he had previously torn his ACL in high school. Hopefully, this injury is not to the same knee and won’t affect his recovery in the future.
The Hoosiers brought in the former Michigan receiver through the transfer portal in January, aiming to fill the gaps left by three talented players—Myles Price, Ke'Shawn Williams, and Miles Cross—who had completed their eligibility.
