Former Pitt cornerback Tamarion Crumpley has found a new home in Conference USA.

Crumpley — a 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback from Cincinnati, Ohio — committed to UAB earlier this month, On3 Sports reported. He entered the transfer portal late last month after four seasons with the Pitt Panthers.

He played sparingly over the last few seasons, serving as the top reserve cornerback this season, but he should have a much greater opportunity with the Blazers in his final season of college eligibility.

Crumpley initially committed to Pitt — flipping from his first commitment, Minnesota — over offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Wake Forest, Washington State and West Virginia.

He flashed potential during his time in Pittsburgh, but he was ultimately never able to work his way onto the field in an extended role.

Crumpley recorded six tackles (five solo) and an interception returned for a touchdown this season, serving primarily in a reserve defensive back role. He played in 11 games this season.

He recorded 12 tackles (10 solo) and an interception returned for a touchdown in his four seasons with the program.

Pitt lost a lot of depth at cornerback this offseason, which includes Crumpley, Noah Biglow, Jaremiah Anglin Jr. and starter Ryland Gandy, but the returns of Rashad Battle and Tamon Lynum bolster the Panthers’ backend. Shadarian Harrison is expected to take a major step forward next season, and Division II All-American Rashan Murray has been brought in for support.

Pitt could still use another cornerback to add competition in the room, but the Battle, Lynum, Harrison and Murray unit has potential. And there’s a chance one of the true freshmen (Mason Alexander or Shawn Lee) could compete for playing time early.
