Former Ravens coach Brian Billick joins Arizona State staff as offensive analyst

After 15 years away from coaching, former Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick is joining the Arizona State football program as an offensive analyst, the university announced Monday.

"I have known Brian since the 1980s and he is a person whom I completely trust," Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards said in a statement. "He has built one of the finest reputations the NFL has ever known, serving as a head coach, an assistant coach and as a respected television analyst. Brian has one of the brightest offensive minds in football today and that is especially why I hired him. He will serve as a valuable resource to our entire coaching staff, but specifically to our offensive staff."

Billick, 67, rose to prominence as offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings and was named the Ravens' head coach in 1999. In his second season with Baltimore, the Ravens went 12-4 and blew out the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV, 34-7. He was fired at the end of the 2007 season with an 80-64 record during his time as the Ravens' head coach.

Since being fired by the Ravens, Billick has been an analyst for Fox and NFL Network.

Edwards is a former head coach of the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. The ASU coaching staff also includes former Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis.
