Former five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold made waves on social media last week when he made his intentions clear in entering the NCAA's transfer portal. The former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback had an inconsistent 2024 season behind a depleted offensive line, alongside a slew of injured wide receivers.
Via Pete Nakos, Arnold's new destination in college football may make plenty of sense and revitalize his football career.
The former Oklahoma QB has been predicted to land at Mississippi State. Former Sooner OC Jeff Lebby is the head coach for the Bulldogs.

Jackson Arnold had a tough year, but you can’t deny that the talent is there. Between not having an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for most of the year, along with injuries happening all around him, and adding up that the offensive scheme was just bad, he made it work, a bit. It wasn’t pretty, but the sophomore quarterback did show flashes every now and then that we saw form his freshman year when filling in for Dillon Gabriel.
The thing about Arnold is everyone knows the upside. He moves arounds the pocket well and is a legitimate running threat in a scheme that uses that part of a game plan effectively.

Not to mention, his downfield passing ability was one of his most important attributes when he entered the college ranks. Like current Mississippi State QB Michael Van Buren, both like the deep ball and want to give their receivers a chance to make a big play.
Arnold has the arm talent, and can make almost any throw, but his pocket awareness is some of the worst I saw last year. His offensive line was bad but he took a lot of sacks as well. He had a lot of fumbles from being hit in the pocket, and had a fumble issue on the run.
The good thing is, the kid can be used as a duel threat QB. He can run the ball and usually makes good decisions on when to pull and give in an option read situation. Arnold has the talent, and he suffered at Oklahoma, so going to his former coach in Jeff Lebby in an offense that he knows only makes sense. -- Justin Churchill

Where will Arnold end up?

Lebby knows quarterbacks, plain and simple. He made Matt Corral look like a top-flight talent during his time at Ole Miss. Lebby helped create immense hype surrounding Dillon Gabriel leading up to this season.
Now, with multiple tools in his bag, Lebby may have the choice of either Arnold or Van Buren in Starkville.
With this national media coverage on Arnold's potential move to Mississippi State, it seems like the Bulldogs HC wants his former gunslinger in the room.
That could result in Van Bren entering the portal as well. Plenty of possibilities and storylines to watch this week regarding Arnold, the Sooners, and the Bulldogs.
