Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Omari Thomas is reportedly heading down south to start his NFL career.
According to multiple reports, the New Orleans Saints are signing Thomas as an undrafted free agent.
Thomas, who is from Memphis, spent five seasons at Tennessee -- a rarity in the NIL/NCAA transfer portal era.
Thomas, a former four-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2020 recruiting cycle, is one of the Vols players who started his career on Rocky Top during the Jeremy Pruitt era. Numerous players from that era hit the transfer portal, but Thomas remained loyal to Tennessee throughout his career.
The Tennessee native started 41 games for the Vols during his career while totaling 116 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and five sacks.
Thomas also served as the SEC’s representative on the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee Student-Athlete Connection Group in 2024.
