Former Tennessee Vols DL Tyler Baron expected to transfer for the third time this offseason
Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

According to On3's Grant Grubbs, former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Tyler Baron is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal this week.

Baron has already transferred twice this offseason, first leaving Tennessee for Ole Miss before eventually landing at Louisville.

The former Vol suffered an injury during spring practice with Louisville that's expected to keep him sidelined until fall camp.

"Tyler Baron, unfortunately, is injured right now and we got to get him healthy, which will be a process all the way to fall camp," said Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm in March. "But he's played a lot of football as well. He's long and athletic."

Brohm told reporters earlier this offseason that part of the reason Baron transferred to Louisville was because he wanted to exclusively play at the edge rusher position.

"We love the addition of Tyler," said Brohm. "Anytime you get a big, tall, athletic edge rusher that has played a lot of football, it's a big piece. I think he wants to go somewhere and basically play that position and try to play that position solely if he can. I think he was moved around a little bit. Proving that he can be a great edge piece and rusher is what we want to try to help him do. So we're excited to get him here and you know he gives us a lot of experience."

Earlier on Tuesday, former Vols defensive back Wesley Walker, who also initially committed to Ole Miss before landing at Louisville, re-entered the transfer portal.

Walker started his college career at Georgia Tech before transferring to Tennessee ahead of the 2022 season.

Baron and Walker are step-brothers, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they land at another program together.
