A former Tennessee Vols linebacker is reportedly set to enter the NCAA transfer portal for a second straight year.
According to On3 , Memphis Tigers linebacker Elijah Herring is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Herring, 6-foot-2/230 lbs from Newnan, GA, spent the first two seasons of his career at Tennessee. He transferred to Memphis after the 2023 season.
"I'd like to thank The University of Memphis, Coach (Ryan) Silverfield and Coach (Jordon) Hankins for the opportunity they gave me and my continued development as a player," wrote Herring in a tweet announcing his decision. "I will be entering the transfer portal today to continue my academic and athletic future."

Herring totaled 90 tackles and three sacks during his two seasons with the Volunteers.
This past season at Memphis, Herring recorded 60 tackles, four passes defensed, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
Herring has one season of eligibility remaining.
