Texas tight end Gunnar Helm is looking to leave a lasting impression at the NFL level with the NFL Scouting Combine kicking off this week.
Throughout the festivities that take place in the heart of Indianapolis annually, it was reported that the former Longhorns standout has met with several NFL teams leading up to when Helm will take part in drills with his fellow tight ends on Friday.
At the moment, Helm has already conducted meetings with the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, LA Rams, New York Jets, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Not to mention, but Helm also met with the Super Bowl champs in the Philadelphia Eagles.
Heading into the week, Brock Helm is projected to be a coveted prospect at the tight end position. Blessed with impressive size and soft hands, the Colorado native has evolved into a polished route runner during his recent seasons in Austin.
This past fall, Helm elevated his game to new heights, emerging as a dependable safety blanket for QB Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns’ passing attack. By season’s end, he capped an outstanding campaign with 60 receptions and seven touchdown catches.
Beyond his receiving prowess, Helm proved equally reliable in pass protection and as a run blocker, showcasing the versatility that sets him apart. It’s clear Helm has the tools to thrive in the right system. A team that maximizes his multifaceted skill set will secure a standout talent in this year’s draft.
