Former Texas Longhorns receiver Johntay Cook II is searching for his third college football program.
On Sunday, On3's Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong shared insight into where the wideout would land. They predicted Cook would join the Syracuse Orange from the transfer portal.
Cook initially committed to the Longhorns as a prospect in the 2023 class. He spent two seasons in Austin before transferring and committing to the Washington Huskies.
After arriving in Washington in December, he entered the portal again in January after being dismissed from the team. In 2025, Syracuse enters its second year under head coach Fran Brown.
He recently visited with the Orange on Monday.
Cook was a five-star receiver and the No. 3 wideout in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Cook is one of 16 Texas players who entered the transfer portal this offseason. The Longhorns' most significant losses include kicker Bert Auburn, tight end Amari Niblack, edge rusher Justice Finkley and linebacker Derion Gullette.
The Huskies had even more players leave the program through the portal, losing 30 players in the offseason. Washington has lost the likes of edge rusher Jayden Wayne, safety Justin Harrington, cornerback Caleb Presley and cornerback Thaddeus Dixon to the portal.
If Cook ends up going to Syracuse, he would join quarterback Steve Angeli (Notre Dame), defensive lineman Christopher Thomas (Marshall), edge rusher David Reese (Cal), and others in the Orange's transfer class.
In his two years with Texas, Cook accounted for 273 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He did not record any stats while with Washington, as he was only with the Huskies for one month.
Syracuse is attempting to reload its roster after losing quarterback Kyle McCord, tight end Oronde Gadsen II, running back LeQuint Allen and defensive end Fadil Diggs to the 2025 NFL Draft.
