After a wave of transfer portal departures hit Michigan State football early this offseason, head coach Jonathan Smith and his new coaching staff have managed to retain a portion of that talent which explored other options.

The latest such example comes in the form of defensive end Khris Bogle , who withdrew his name from the portal on Tuesday to return to MSU.

Considered the No. 49 overall prospect in the Class of 2019 (247Sports), Bogle began his college career at the University of Florida. He recorded 69 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and eight sacks across three seasons and 35 games as a Gator. Bogle added two pass breakups and a forced fumble at UF.

The 6-foot-4, 246-pounder then transferred to Michigan State ahead of the 2022 season, playing just four games with the Spartans that year before suffering a season-ending injury. Granted a medical redshirt by the NCAA, Bogle appeared in 10 games for MSU this past season. In two years at Michigan State, the senior has recorded 25 tackles, including five tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Michigan State had up to 28 players enter the transfer portal this offseason, but nine of those entries have now withdrawn their names to return to MSU. In addition to Bogle, the Spartans have retained the services of cornerback Charles Brantley, defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, wide receiver Jaron Glover, linebacker Darius Snow and offensive linemen Ethan Boyd, Brandon Baldwin, Geno VanDeMark and Kristian Phillips.
