The Ole Miss Rebels are one of the hottest teams in the country right now in terms of landing new talent.
They've done it via the NCAA Transfer Portal, landing eight players over the last couple of weeks.
Now, they're doing it again on the recruiting trail, bolstering their No. 20 ranked class with the commitment of Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, MS) four-star quarterback, Anthony Maddox.
And according to Maddox, the combination of head coach Lane Kiffin and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., as well as seeing what Jaxson Dart has done on the field, made all the difference.
“Man, Ole Miss is a great place. Coach Lane Kiffin, and Coach Weis together as an offensive mind is crazy,' Maddox told On3. "Seeing the production that Jaxson Dart has put in over 2 years leads me to think I could do even more once I get there.”
Maddox recently de-committed from Texas A&M after being a key part of their class since February, following the firing of head coach Jimbo Fisher, and the changing of the guard in College Station.
In Oxford, even if Jaxson Dart returns next season, Maddox will have an opportunity to come in and play early. And when Dart does leave, he will be able to compete with former five-star Walker Howard for the starting job.
“I’m closest with Coach Weis and Golding," he told On3. "Coach Weis' plan for me is to play early and contribute, to come out every single day and work my tail off.”
Per Max Preps, Maddox completed 131 of 200 passes for 1,954 yards and 22 touchdowns with three interceptions in nine games this season, while rushing for 292 yards and nine scores on 42 carries.
