The USC Trojans picked up another victory on the recruiting trail Sunday, receiving a commitment from four-star athlete Prophet Brown.

The Trojans came into the weekend competing with the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon and Oklahoma for Brown. Ultimately, the four-star athlete from California couldn’t pass on the opportunity to stay home.

In an announcement video released Sunday, Brown thanked his family, friends and coaches who helped shape the man and athlete he has become. After showing appreciation for those who helped get him to this point, Brown let everyone know where the future of his career on the gridiron is headed.

A two-way star at Monterey Trail High School in Elk Grove, California, Brown has impressed both on the field and the basketball court. The 5-foot-10 athlete is lauded for his skills at cornerback, ranking as the No. 15 player at the position in the country by 247Sports.

During the 2019-20 season, Brown accounted for 1,531 total yards in 12 games as a junior. On the defensive side, he recorded three interception and five pass deflections.

While Brown is the first player in the 2021 recruiting class to commit to USC this month, he adds to one of the best classes in the country. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic causing issues for programs across the country, Clay Helton is doing well on the recruiting trail.

The Trojans boast the No. 7 class in the 2021 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports. As of now, 18 commits have pledged to USC. Helton’s program is now tied with Ohio State for the second-most commitments from four-star recruits (12) in the country and is just two behind the LSU Tigers (14).

USC is in great position to climb even higher in the 2021 recruiting rankings. Five-star defensive lineman Korey Foreman, the No. 1 overall prospect in the nation, is considered a lean to pick USC, per 247Sports. If the California native chooses to stay home, the Trojans could boast a top-three recruiting class.
