June is a significant month for college football recruiting, with numerous major recruiting weekends for programs. As well as looking to convince more recruits to commit, teams also need to protect players who have already committed, something the Auburn Tigers are doing well with wide receiver Devin Carter.

Carter has been committed to Hugh Freeze and the Tigers since January 2025, holding off other programs pushing for a flip. The Douglasville, GA native recently returned from a visit to the Florida State Seminoles, which impressed him. However, speaking to 247Sports Auburn Undercover after his weekend visit to The Plains, he knew where home was.

"I felt good after my Florida State visit. I just enjoyed my Florida State visit, but Auburn was home after I left the visit, and it's still home," Carter said.

Florida State are not the only team that has heavily pushed for Carter. The Georgia Bulldogs and the North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to impress, and the latter has an official visit scheduled this coming weekend. However, the Seminoles appear to be the most significant threat, as he was a previous commit and comes is a legacy player.

Carter is ranked the No. 15 wide receiver and the No. 13 player in Georgia, according to 247Sports. He is also ranked No. 135 nationally, which is why so many programs are looking to recruit the talented offensive playmaker.

It's positive news for Hugh Freeze, who recently lost four-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett from his 2026 class, as Garrett decommitted last week. The Tigers have plenty of time to improve their rank, but as it stands, they are off the pace of previous years.
