The University of Washington football program announced the signing of Jack Shaffer, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive tackle from Bismarck, North Dakota, early Wednesday morning to signal the first of what is expected to be over two dozen national letters of intent coming in.

Shaffer, who previously committed to Iowa State back in June, switched his commitment to UW on September 17 after he made an official visit to Seattle the week prior for the Week 2 victory against Eastern Michigan.

One of five verbal commits secured by offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Brennan Carroll in the '25 class, Shaffer is the only recruit at the position who could sign ahead of the 7 a.m. start time for West Coast recruits, being two hours ahead in central time.

With UW coach Jedd Fisch stressing the importance of signing high school offensive linemen and developing them for three-plus years, verses going into the transfer portal annually to find a solution, Schaffer is expected to bring toughness and size that the OL will need to compete each year in the Big Ten Conference.
