Georgia Bulldogs have first transfer portal entry in April window

It’s portal time, and the Georgia Bulldogs just had a surprise. According to Hayes Fawcett, running back Branson Robinson plans to enter the transfer portal.

Nate Frazier is a budding star and expected to be the lead back this fall after leading the Bulldogs in rushing his freshman year, but behind him is a lot of opportunity.

Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson were both set to return from injury, as the former recovers from knee surgery and the latter dealt with an ankle injury in the spring.

Cash Jones is a proven commodity and expected to garner third-down snaps. Rising sophomores Chauncey Bowens and Dwight Phillips are also returning. Perhaps it’s the new kid on the block in freshman Bo Walker; Kirby Smart did point Walker and Bowens out earlier this spring.

“I’m excited for those two (Bo Walker and Chauncey Bowens),” Smart said. “They both got better in the spring, and I thought Dwight (Phillips) had a good spring, Nate (Frazier) had a good spring, and then Cash (Jones) took less reps than anybody because he’s the guy that’s had the most. But he continues to grow and get better. I’m really excited about all those backs, they had good spring practices.”

Regardless, injuries can happen to anyone, especially running backs. Georgia knows that as well as any team, so it’s a bit surprising to see the redshirt junior seek other opportunities in the transfer portal, but he has dealt with serious injuries the past couple of seasons. Maybe, he just wants a more sure thing.
