There have been some rumblings on social media over the last few days that the crowd at Neyland Stadium for the matchup last weekend between the Tennessee Vols and the Georgia Bulldogs wasn't quite as electric as it's been for some big games in the past.
Maybe that's true. Maybe it's not.
If it is true, then it was likely due to a couple of factors. For starters, it wasn't a night game. Secondly, I'm sure there was quite a bit of nervousness among Tennessee fans in Neyland during what was a nerve-wracking second half for both fan bases.
Personally, I thought the crowd was great. Georgia running back Chauncey Bowens felt the same way.
Bowens joined The Players' Lounge this week and he shared his thoughts on Vols fans and the atmosphere at Neyland Stadium during last Saturday's game.
"It was crazy, for sure," said Bowens of the crowd at Neyland. "And I would say last year, like, we played in some crazy environment -- Bama, Texas, Kentucky, they were loud. But Tennessee, they were the real deal for sure. That stadium was loud. It was definitely hard to hear.
"But on a serious note, though, those fans, they're passionate. Very passionate."
Take it from an opponent on the field -- Neyland was electric for the game against Georgia, and Vols fans made it very difficult for UGA's players to hear.
