Georgia Football Rara Thomas Arrested on Felony Charge

ESPN obtained an arrest warrant on Monday stating that he was charged with false imprisonment because he confined and detained the female “without legal authority by standing in front of the dorm room door, blocking the exit, telling her she cannot leave.”

Rara Thomas was given the misdemeanor battery charge because he “did intentionally cause visible bodily harm [by] causing bruising to the right biceps and bruising and abrasion to her shins.”

What happens to Rodarius Thomas now? He will be immediately suspended per Georgia Athletic Association guidelines.

“We are aware of a reported incident involving conduct by one of our student-athletes. While we are limited in what we can say about the incident, the report is disappointing and not reflective of the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field. In addition to following internal Athletic Association policies, we will be working closely with our administration to ensure we cooperate fully with all law enforcement and campus protocols.” – the Georgia athletics department on Monday

Thomas recently transferred to Georgia from Mississippi State. In 2022, Rara Thomas led Mississippi State with 44 receptions for 626 yards and seven touchdowns.

Rara’s arrest comes shortly after Georgia defensive back Javon Bullard’s arrest in September 2022. Bullard was charged with seven misdemeanors, including one for driving under the influence of alcohol.
