In addition to his considerable success developing players with the Georgia program, Head Coach Kirby Smart has also been a prolific developer of coaching talent. Through eight years at the helm of the Georgia program, Smart has seen three former assistant coaches (Shane Beamer, Dan Lanning, Fran Brown) land head coaching jobs and has helped a number of other coaches and support staffers under his charge earn promotions or on-field coaching opportunities. On Saturday, Jeremy King became the latest member of the Smart coaching tree to move on to a new opportunity as the former Georgia Offensive Line Graduate Assistant was named the new Offensive Lime Coach at Western Carolina University.

After playing for Valdosta State from 2014-2018 and briefly pursuing a professional career, King returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant in 2021. He spent two seasons on the Blazers’ support staff before joining the Georgia staff in February, 2023.
During his redshirt senior season at Valdosta State, the Macon, Georgia native was a Division II All-American and was also named a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, an honor that is annually awarded to the top Division II lineman. Following his collegiate career, King spent two seasons with the Green Bay Blizzard of the indoor football league before ultimately deciding to hang up his cleats and enter the coaching profession.
