The Georgia Bulldogs have been a recruiting powerhouse in recent years, consistently landing top-tier talent across both sides of the ball. Their reputation for developing NFL-ready defenders has especially helped them dominate in the trenches. That momentum hasn’t slowed in the 2026 cycle either.

The Dawgs are locked in on blue-chip EDGE rusher Dre Quinn, one of the most coveted prospects in the Rivals250. While Georgia and Tennessee have been early leaders for Quinn, new competition is quickly heating up, and it’s coming from Austin.

Quinn has only taken one official visit so far, to Georgia Tech, but that hasn’t stopped Clemson and Texas from climbing the ladder. In fact, both programs are beginning to “level the playing field” with Georgia, as official visits pick back up this summer.

Clemson will host Quinn on May 30, but it’s the Longhorns who may be gaining the most steam. “They’re one of my top schools,” Quinn said of Texas per The Rivals. “They check off all the boxes for me, especially with development… It’s a great environment and a city atmosphere.”

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have made the Forty Acres feel like home for multiple blue-chip recruits this cycle. As the Horns prepare for another top-tier class in 2026, their focus on players like Quinn is evident. The standout EDGE is set to visit Austin again on June 13, a trip that could tip the scales.

“They have everything I’m looking for,” Quinn added, echoing sentiments other Texas targets have shared.

While Georgia remains the leader, Texas is closing in fast. The Bulldogs might have to dig deeper if they want to hold off a surging Longhorns program hungry for elite defensive talent.
