Georgia Makes Massive Moves in College Football Transfer Portal This Weekend

After a slow start with the college football transfer portal in 2025, Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart is hard at work bolstering the team's roster. The Dawgs received three major commitments via the transfer portal this weekend and additional moves could be on the way.

Georgia continues to be an appealing landing spot for defenders looking for a new home. The Bulldogs have a strong track record of sending top defenders to the NFL with Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean among the most recent examples.

Now, Georgia has added two additional pass rushers as well as a playmaker via the portal.

The Dawgs received commitments from the following three players on Sunday, per On3's Pete Nakos : Illinois running back Josh McCray, Miami defensive lineman Joshua Horton and Army linebacker Elo Modozie.

McCray gives the Dawgs some added depth at running back, continuing the program's history of utilizing multiple rushers in the team's offensive attack. The running back posted 117 carries for 609 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns for Illinois in 2024.

Horton was widely viewed as one of the top available players in the transfer portal and could immediately contribute to the team's pass rush. Modozie is coming off his best season of his career with Army. The linebacker notched 34 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 14 appearances during the 2024 season.

Georgia has also been linked to North Carolina Tar Heels pass rusher Beau Atkinson. It remains to be seen if these recent additions will preclude the Dawgs from landing Atkinson.
