Georgia Predicted to Land Multiple New Star Playmakers

There are three five-star tight ends in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Georgia Bulldogs could land two of them.

That's what On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong predicted to happen this week. Both college football recruiting insiders projected five-star tight ends Mark Bowman and Kaiden Prothro to each commit to the Bulldogs.

“I like the Bulldogs for Bowman," wrote Wiltfong on May 13.

"Georgia is the in-state school, it is the school he has visited the most, including a quiet visit he took earlier this spring and that would be my pick of who has the best shot today," wrote Simmons when analyzing Prothro's recruitment.

Simmons argued the Texas Longhorns will battle Georgia for Bowman, who is the consensus top tight end in the 2026 class.

Texas could be involved for Prothro as well. Both On3 insiders also wrote the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and Florida Gators will push to sign Prothro.

The fact Georgia is competing with Texas for both top tight end prospects makes things complicated. If one commits to the Bulldogs first, the other could easily decide to play for the Longhorns.

There's also no guarantee the Bulldogs land either tight end. There's enough schools involved in Prothro's recruitment that he could go elsewhere while Bowman plays for Texas.

But receiving a commitment from both would be an incredible recruiting win for head coach Kirby Smart.

Based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Bowman and Prothro are each top 30 overall recruits. Bowman is the No. 1 tight end while Prothro is ranked No. 3.

The only other tight end besides Bowman rated ahead of Prothro on the 247 Sports composite rankings is Oregon commit Kendre Harrison.
