Georgia QB's NFL Draft stock plummeting as turnover issues continue vs. Florida

The Georgia Bulldogs (6-1) are ranked No. 2 in the nation, but with how their starting quarterback, Carson Beck, has been playing this year, you wouldn't have guessed it.

Beck, once mocked as a high first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, threw two bad interceptions in the first half against SEC rival Florida on Saturday. He threw his third of the game in the third quarter. He's thrown 11 picks so far this season for a national championship-aspiring squad.

Beck's draft stock has been steadily tumbling as the season has progressed. CBS Sports' most recent mock from Thursday dropped Beck out of the first round entirely. ESPN had him going to the New York Giants at the 10th overall selection just two weeks ago.

The senior's 6,420 career passing yards are impressive, but Beck's drop-off in quality play compared to 2023 has been quite noticeable.

Last season he threw for 2,147 yards, 12 touchdowns and just six interceptions through seven games. This year he only logged 1,993 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight picks.

Beck's inconsistency is a factor NFL scouts will be concerned with in their reports. He had a 72.4 completion percentage in 2023 but that's significantly dropped to 66.0 through seven games in 2024.

It's getting more and more likely the Georgia product will be selected after several other high-quality passers in college football this year like Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward.
