Georgia Tech had no problem a few weeks ago against Gardner-Webb. Everything went smoothly, the team got in plenty of work, and that was the breather between two thrillers.
The Yellow Jackets needed to pull off a late win over Colorado to start the season, and then last week, they got a massive field goal to screw up Clemson in a statement moment for the program.
Now they have this to get ready for a trip to Wake Forest next week, and then Virginia Tech a few weeks later, and then the remaining schedule that isn’t all that bad until the regular season finale against Georgia.
Temple will need a little bit, but head coach KC Keeler is a good one, his team rolled against UMass and Howard to get things going, and next week it gets UTSA to start the American Conference season.

The Owls might have been stuffed by Oklahoma last week 42-3, but they’re well coached, have a decent enough defense to be a concern, and they have a Georgia Tech team that might be a tad bit fried.
It’s a home game, and it’s supposed to be an easy one, but the main goal here is to get this done as quickly as possible so everyone can rest up. Quarterback Haynes King will play, but he’s been banged up.
Temple has yet to turn the ball over, the passing game was efficient before dealing with OU, and it’ll take advantage of any lack of concentration if the Yellow Jackets play like they’re just trying to get things done. But …
UMass might be the worst team in the FBS, and Howard is from the FCS ranks. To be fair, going from those two to Oklahoma is like going from 0 to 60, but Temple isn’t nearly as good as it looked and played in the first two games.
Georgia Tech’s offensive line has been terrific so far. It’s doing a great job in pass protection, the ground game has been great, and Job One is to keep King from getting hit. The rest of the parts should take care of everything else.
The Owls will be pesky enough in the first half to keep Georgia Tech trying, and then three straight scoring drives in the second quarter will put this away.
The Yellow Jackets will keep cranking up the production in the third quarter, and rest everyone in the fourth. It won’t always be smooth, but it’ll be the first 4-0 start since the 2014 team played for the ACC Championship.
