Burton and the rest of the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide for the title, 33-18, just 13 days ago. The sophomore finished the game with two receptions for 28 yards.
During his freshman season in 2020, Burton recorded 27 receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns in 10 contests. In 12 games this season, Burton posted his five scores and nearly 500 receiving yards on 26 catches.
In the Bulldogs' national semifinal victory over Michigan, Burton had just one catch, but it was a 57-yard touchdown reception. The underclassman finished behind only freshman tight end Brock Bowers in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
Bowers posted 13 scores on 56 catches for 882 yards, all of which led Georgia by a wide margin.
