As noted by ESPN and the Associated Press, Hill missed the final two games of his last college campaign because of injury. On Dec. 17, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Hill as the No. 5 center in next year's draft class. However, Charlie Campbell of Walter Football believes Hill could rise to the first round by spring.
"Hill has blocked very well in 2020, showing the ability to get movement in the ground game, hit double teams to open holes, and take on big defensive tackles," Campbell wrote on Dec. 12. "Hill has been tough in pass protection as well, putting on display his ability to go one-on-one with tackles. While Hill has blocked well, he has also fired some bad snaps, so he needs to improve on his snapping accuracy for the NFL."
Herring, meanwhile, tallied 20 total tackles, two sacks and 4.5 tackles for losses during the 2020 season. Campbell projects Herring will fall between the fifth and seventh round of the draft.
"Herring played defensive end for Georgia and is a sturdy base defender at the point of attack," Campbell explained on Dec. 19. "He is solid against the run, but he is not productive or a real presence in the pass rush. Herring has a tweener tackle/end body type and for the NFL, so he might be better off gaining weight and being a full-time defensive tackle. Herring has not produced enough in the pass rush to be viewed as a potential three-down starter."
