At 6-3, 210 pounds, Grayson McCall is a 2-year starter at quarterback for Coastal Carolina and has a 20–2 record. In 2021, he set a new FBS record for passing efficiency at 207.6.
As a redshirt junior, McCall enters the 2022 season with a 196.09 passing efficiency rating, which is the active career leader in the FBS.
In 2021, even as he missed two games, he was still very productive in leading the Chanticleers to an 11–2 record:
McCall recorded 3 games of over 300 yards passing and went four games without throwing an INT.
Against Arkansas State, McCall was 18 of 23 (78%) for 365 yards, 4 TDs, and zero INTs.
A few weeks later, he followed that performance up with 5 passing touchdowns and zero INTs vs Texas State. In that game, McCall passed for 319 yards and was 22 of 28 passing (78%).
For his career, McCall has passed for 5386 yards and 54 TDs, and only 6 INTs. He has completed 71% completion percentage.
For 2022, McCall has been named to several player award watchlists: Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and the Walter Camp Award.
McCall was also named the 2022 Preseason Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the 1st Team All-Sun Belt Team. He is a two-time winner of the SBC Player of the Year Award (2020 and 2021) as well as the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2020.
The Chanticleers open the 2022 season on September 3 when they host Army. Other notable games include a road game at Marshall (Oct. 29), hosting Appalachian State (Nov. 3), and at Virginia (November 19).
