ESPN’s Greg McElroy put out his list of the Top 10 college quarterbacks for the 2025 season. Arizona State's Sam Leavitt is No. 3 on the list. Cade Klubnik of Clemson and John Mateer of Oklahoma are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

The quarterbacks on this list are those that have had success against top-ranked teams. In 2024, Leavitt led the Sun Devils to an 11-win season and a Big 12 title. In addition, Leavitt and ASU gave the Texas Longhorns all they could handle in the college football playoffs.

In the passing department, Leavitt was 115 yards shy of 3,000 yards (2,885) and found the end zone 24 times last season.

After the Sun Devils suffered a 10-point loss on the road at Cincinnati, Leavitt threw just two INTs and 16 touchdowns the rest of the season. Against ranked opponents BYU and Iowa State, Leavitt passed for 466 yards, four TDs and one INT.

Leavitt will lead an Arizona State team that returns 18 starters. For another season, he will have his favorite target on the perimeter, wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

Leavitt is one of only two quarterbacks from the Big 12, with Sawyer Robertson of Baylor joining him on the list.

Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham is building something special in Tempe and wants to keep the pitchforks sharp in 2025. Leavitt is an important part of the sharpening process in the Valley of the Sun.
