Gunner Stockton leads underwhelming QB room, and a leaky offensive line highlight key concerns for Georgia entering 2025 season

For the first time in years under head coach Kirby Smart, the Georgia Bulldogs looked human in 2024. This offseason was about getting back to their previous dominance, and find some much needed answers to important questions. Those questions do still very much exist, even if strictly hypothetical until proven wrong.

There’s a reality where the Bulldogs regain their previous form this upcoming season, but there are concerns that could limit them. Here are those main hurdles this team is going to have to figure out. It could make or break this version of a great program.

Gunner Stockton leads underwhelming QB room

If you have heard Stockton interviewed, he is an easy guy to root for. As a former top recruit, it’s hard to be patient sometimes. Stockton has stuck around, competed, and has now earned his opportunity to be a full time starter. He brings an intriguing dual threat skill set that Georgia should really lean into. That dynamic could change the outlook for the offense in 2025.

I personally think Stockton is going to suprise a lot of folks, but that is projection on my part.

If Stockton doesn’t live up to expectations, and he struggles, there is a very real question about where this program could turn. There is some talent behind Stockton, including redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi, but it is very unproven. There is a world where that inexperience seriously limits this offense severely in 2025.

Leaky offensive line

For a team that has had really good offensive lines in the not too distant past, the 2024 unit was a massive letdown. Rather than try to find some potential answers in the transfer portal, to at least compete, the Bulldogs have chosen to develop internally. That’s an interesting decision after losing their entire interior to the NFL in the same offseason.

There is some optimism that players like starting left tackle Monroe Freeling and Ernest Greene can take substantial jumps. If they do, this offensive line has a chance to be a lot better. If they don’t, we could see a lot of the same once again in 2025.

Georgia pass rush

The interior defensive line, led by Christian Miller and Jordan Hall, should be a big strength for the Bulldogs as they both develop more. While Georgia could get a nice interior push, what exactly should we expect from the outside pass rushers? That’s the biggest question on their defense heading into 2025.

Former Army pass rusher Elo Modozie transferred to the team this offseason, and he should be a big help. That jump in competition, however, is substantial. Modozie is projected to start for the Bulldogs. If his transition is steep and takes a bit for him to develop, it’s fair to have concerns about just how consistently Georgia is going to get after opposing passers.
