Here’s how much Texas Longhorns assistant coaches earned in salary for the 2024 season

Texas assistant football coaches continue to have nationally competitive salaries, but the total salary pool doesn’t break the bank when compared to its peers.

USA Today released its annual survey of assistant coaching salaries on Wednesday.

The Longhorns are scheduled to spend $9.1 million on the entire assistant coach salary pool, which is the seventh-highest total in the nation, according to the data. Ohio State ($11.425 million), Georgia ($10.332 million) and Clemson ($9.675 million) hold down the top three spots.

Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski remains the highest paid assistant on staff earning $1.8 million for the 2024 season. He is scheduled to receive a $100,000 escalator each of the next two seasons.

Kwiatkowski’s 2024 total is the 12th-highest total among FBS assistants. LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker is the nation’s highest-paid assistant, earning $2.5 million for the 2024 season, according to USA Today’s data.

Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood will earn $1.375 million this season. He’s also scheduled to a pay bump to $1.4 million next season and $1.475 million in 2026. Flood’s total ranks 34th nationally.

Special teams coordinator Jeff Banks earned $1.150 million for this season. Linebackers coach Johnny Nansen earned $900,000, secondary coach Terry Joseph earned $825,000 and safeties coach Blake Gideon earned $600,000. First-year defensive line coach Kenny Baker received $550,000.

Offensively, running backs coach Tashard Choice earned $700,000, receivers coach Chris Jackson and quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee both earned $600,000.

The Longhorns’ assistant coaching bonus structure rewards the coaches based on team performance. The bonus pool ranges from $104,500 to $156,750.

USA Today also published its annual list of strength coaches. Texas’ Torre Becton is the seventh-highest paid strength coach in the nation and earned $650,000 for the 2024 season.
