Herm Edwards had a front-row seat the quarterback Jayden Daniels for three years. Both were at Arizona State trying to resurrect the Sun Devils program. Daniels ended up transferring to LSU and last night he won the Heisman Trophy. Edwards took to social media to react to his former quarterback winning the highest honor in college football.
It’s been fun watching Jayden mature as a young man as well as a quarterback, and now he has won the highest award that you can win in college football, the #HeismanTrophy.

While his time at Arizona State didn’t end great, Edwards was happy to see Daniels thriving.

Daniels’s rise was a great story. He wasn’t great at Arizona State as he had five more total touchdowns in 2023 than he had in the three years with the Sun Devils. Sometimes players need more development or a change of scenery in order to thrive. This was the case for the LSU quarterback who had a career season.
The consensus seems to be that Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are the two prospects. However, there is a lot of time for things to change. Last season, Anthony Richardson wasn’t slated to be a top pick until he dominated the NFL Combine. He then shot up draft boards before going fourth overall to the Colts. I could see Daniels having a similar rise if he has a good lead-up to the draft process.
It was great to see Daniels get rewarded for his hard work. He has improved drastically and had an amazing season for LSU.
