CHARLOTTE - Playing in their first ACC Championship Game since joining the league nearly a decade ago, the Louisville football program flourished defensively but struggled offensively, dropping a 16-6 rock fight against Florida State.

Team Notes:

  • Louisville falls to 6-18 in the all-time series vs. Florida State, meeting for the first time on a neutral field.
  • Louisville falls to 10-3 overall, achieving that record for the first time in program history.
  • Louisville drops to 17-16-1 in neutral site games, ending a three-game winning streak on neutral fields which matched the longest streak in program history.
  • Louisville moves on to its bowl game, playing 14 games in a season for the first time.
  • Florida State was penalty-free in the first half, marking three straight halves without an opponent penalty for the first time since records are available (1962).
  • Louisville extends its streak of holding opponents scoreless on their first possession to 17 games.
  • Louisville holds its 11th opponent in 13 games this season scoreless in the first quarter, the most first-quarter shutouts in program history.
  • Louisville extends its scoring streak to 300 games, the ninth longest active streak in FBS.
  • Each team punts nine times for the first time in a Louisville game since Drake and Louisville punted 10 and 11 times, respectively, on Sept. 25, 1971.
  • Louisville limits Florida State to 219 yards of total offense, the second lowest output by the Seminoles in the all-time series, surpassing only a 212-yard outing vs. the Cards in 1970.
    • The Cards hold Florida State to its lowest offensive yardage total since Miami held the Seminoles to 203 yards on Nov. 2, 2019.

Player Notes:

  • QB Jack Plummer was 14-of-36 passing for a season-low 111 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. He rushed 13 times for a loss of 32 yards including seven sacks for 59 yards.
  • RB Jawhar Jordan led Louisville's rushers with 52 yards on 14 carries, reaching 2,037 career rushing yards to become the Cards' 18th 2,000-yard career rusher.
  • WR Jamari Thrash led Louisville's receivers with seven receptions for 57 yards.
  • LB TJ Quinn led the Louisville defense with 11 tackles.
  • CB Storm Duck had the first sack and first solo tackle for loss in his Louisville career to go with two tackles.
  • DT Ramon Puryear had his fourth sack and sixth tackle for loss of the season to go with two tackles.
  • CB Quincy Riley had a pass breakup to push his team-leading total to nine and added a solo tackle.
  • LB Jaylin Alderman had six tackles and matched his career high with 1.5 tackles for loss along with an assisted sack and a pass breakup.
  • DE Stephen Herron had two quarterback hurries to take the team lead with eight on the season. He added four tackles and an assisted sack and assisted tackle for loss.
  • K Brock Travelstead made both of his field goal attempts from 36 and 33 yards to push his season total to 17 made field goals, tied for fourth most in a season at Louisville.
  • P Brady Hodges punted nine times for 371 yards, the most punts by a Louisville kicker since Mason King punted nine times at Boston College in 2018 and the most punting yards since King punted for 404 yards vs. LSU in the 2016 Citrus Bowl.
