One of the biggest question marks for the Georgia Bulldogs this offseason is who will replace Carson Beck behind center. The answer may be emerging at the team's spring practices.

On3's Pete Nakos reported on March 19 Gunner Stockton is on track to be the team's starter.

"Sources told On3 Gunner Stockton has impressed and is primed to be the starter for 2025. His experience from backing up Carson Beck in 2024 helped his development and has proven he can extend plays with his feet," Nakos wrote. "His experience in the offense has shown this spring and has made the difference.

"Ryan Puglisi continues to improve day-to-day, a source told On3; he didn’t play a snap as a true freshman last year."

Stockton joined the Bulldogs as a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. The Tiger, Ga., product received dozens of offers from other programs.

With Beck sidelined because of injury, Stockton finished the 2024 SEC Championship Game and started the College Football Playoff matchup versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

In five appearances last season, Stockton completed 70.3% of his passes for 440 yards. The signal-caller also had one touchdown and one interception.

Incoming four-star quarterback prospect Ryan Montgomery is expected to be in the mix behind center once healthy. But Montgomery is out for the spring as he continues to recover from ACL surgery.

Ryan Puglisi should continue to receive opportunities as well, but Stockton appears to have emerged as the favorite to start.
