There’s nothing quite like the chaos and excitement of the transfer portal.
With their sights set on contending for a national championship in 2025, the Texas Longhorns are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to refine their roster before the season kicks off.
Their latest target? Stanford Cardinal star EDGE rusher David Bailey, who is scheduled to visit Texas on Tuesday.
Bailey entered the transfer portal following the dismissal of Stanford head coach Troy Taylor by general manager Andrew Luck and the university. Now, one of the top defensive players available is exploring his options.
Rated as the No. 3 overall player in the portal, Bailey was a force last season, tallying seven sacks, five forced fumbles, and 31 total tackles. At 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, the soon-to-be senior brings elite bend and balance to the outside linebacker position.
A former four-star recruit, Bailey was ranked as the nation’s No. 3 EDGE prospect in the Class of 2021 and the second-best overall player from California.
While Texas is making a strong push, Bailey is also set to visit Texas Tech and UCLA. However, few programs are as primed for a deep College Football Playoff run next season as the Longhorns. Wherever he lands, Bailey’s decision could send shockwaves across the college football landscape.
