Historic College Football Program Draws 'Embarrassing' Home Crowd at Kickoff

The USC Trojans are in the midst of a disappointing 2024 college football campaign, holding a 4-5 record before Saturday's home matchup against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.

The Trojans fanbase is understandably frustrated with the program. And on Saturday, the fans showed that frustration with their lack of attendance at LA Memorial Coliseum.

Five minutes before kickoff of USC's Homecoming game, the Trojans' home stadium was almost entirely empty.

According to multiple reports from LA Memorial Stadium, visiting Nebraska fans were far louder than the home fanbase when their respective teams took the field.

Fans took to social media with reactions to USC's home crowd.

"That’s embarrassing. do USC fans not show?" one wrote.

"It’s amazing how many USC fans came dressed as empty seats!" another joked.

"USC fans are such fair weather fans," another said.

"That is maybe the saddest crowd I’ve ever seen for a college football game, wtf USC?? What is that," another wrote.

As the first quarter got underway, more fans started to file into LA Memorial Stadium. Still, it wasn't exactly the crowd the program was hoping for at its Homecoming game.

Lincoln Riley and the Trojans have dropped four of their last five games after starting the season with a 3-1 record — including a season-opening win over No. 13 LSU.

Following Saturday afternoon's matchup against the visiting Cornhuskers, USC will finish its regular season with matchups against UCLA and Notre Dame.
