The Washington football program appears set on adding a second safety from the transfer portal with one player scheduled to be on campus on Friday.

Former Florida International safety CJ Christian, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Normal, Illinois, will visit UW at the and of this week ahead of the transfer portal dead period that restricts recruits from taking visits to schools, as 247 Sports first reported.

Christian began his college career at Iowa Central C.C. in 2021 — the same school that Huskies' left tackle Max McCree started at — with 54 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 3 pass breakups, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble in 11 games, before heading down to The Sunshine State in 2022.

Over his three seasons with the Panthers in 2022-24 the talented defensive back appeared in 27 total games with 23 starts, boasting 151 tackles, 10 pass breakups, 5.5 tackles for loss and 5 interceptions for the Conference USA program.

With both Kamren Fabiculanan and Cameron Broussard out of eligibility after this season the Huskies are looking for at least two safeties in the portal to bring in and compete while helping bridge the gap between the first and second-year players already on the roster.

Christian graded out as the No. 34 best safety in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus, with an 81.1 defense grade and even slightly better against the run with an 82.5 grade, the exact same as Ohio State star Caleb Downs.
