The Ohio State Buckeyes have just arguably received the best news of the offseason.

Buckeyes junior running back TreVeyon Henderson announced on Friday that he would be returning for his senior season.

Henderson has been an invaluable part of the Buckeyes offense for the past three seasons. Opening his Ohio State career with 1,248 yards in 2021, the Hopewell, Virginia native spent most of his sophomore year dealing with a variety of injuries.

The former five-star recruit got things back on track this past year, however, posting almost 930 yards and 11 touchdowns while splitting reps with fellow running backs Miyan Williams and Chip Trayanum.

Last month, both Williams and Trayanum departed from Ohio State. Williams declared for the 2024 NFL Draft back in December, along with Buckeyes defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr., linebacker Steele Chambers and Josh Proctor.

Trayanum decided to enter the transfer portal, on the other hand, and later committed to the Kentucky Wildcats. Junior running back Evan Pryor also left Ohio State for seemingly greener pastures, announcing his commitment to the Cincinnati Bearcats shortly after Trayanum.

Heading into this offseason, it appeared that Dallan Hayden might have been the only remaining Buckeye running back with game experience on the roster.

However, Ohio State has begun to rebound landing a commitment from Ole Miss transfer running back Quinshon Judkins on January 8, and now retaining Henderson, immediately forming one of the best one-two punches at running back in the country.

Along with senior quarterback Will Howard, Ohio State is well on its way to recouping its losses and building a team worthy of competing for a national championship.
