On Sunday morning, the BYU Cougars football team lost a player to an in-conference foe, with linebacker Carson Suesue heading to Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Suesue, a 6-foot-4 athlete from Salt Lake City, Utah, played quarterback in high school but joined BYU as a member of the linebacker room.
Coming out of Granger High School in the Class of 2024, Suesue was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1240th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 102nd-ranked athlete in his class and the 15th-ranked player in the state of Utah.
According to his player bio on BYU’s website, Suesue was recruited to play on either side of the ball. As a talented quarterback in High School, the Utah native received 12 collegiate offers, including ones from Utah, Tennessee, Arizona State, UNLV, and more.
During his time in Provo, Suesue did not see the field much and did not record any statistics with the Cougars as a linebacker.
Mike Gundy, however, is looking to find a new opportunity for Suesue, with the third position group of his collegiate career. Heading into the 2025 season, the former Cougars will line up as a tight end for the Cowboys as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2024 season.
Suesue and the Cowboys are set to take the field on Thursday, August 28th, vs. UT Martin.
