In-state recruits get full-court press from Nebraska football

I have said consistently when it comes to Chase Loftin and Christian Jones, the top in-state recruits for Nebraska football in the 2025 class, I’ll believe they will leave the state when I see it.

Kids make choices for all sorts of reasons. So a kid from Nebraska may want to play somewhere else. But outside of that dynamic, Matt Rhule is tough to beat for in-state recruits and Monday was a reminder of why.

Assistant coaches are able to visit recruits — head coaches aren’t right now — but Rhule sent the entire assistant coaching staff to visit tight end Chase Loftin.

Loftin is a four-star tight end and is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state for the 2025 class. He’s had all kinds of SEC and other high-major offers, but he’s been on campus twice in the past month. Rhule has pushed for him hard since he was hired and it feels like that is paying off.

Rhule has used this tactic before. But kids seem impressed by it. How can you not feel like a priority when the entire Nebraska football staff is there to see you?

More in-state targets get full-court press

Christian Jones, a top-200 prospect according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class and the top-ranked recruit in Nebraska, also had every assistant coach come and see him.

Nebraska football coaches also visited three-start tight end Roman Zebert, who hasn’t committed yet, as well as their current 2025 commitments — Tyson Terry, Connor Booth, Jackson Carpenter, and Caden VerMaas.
