The transfer portal officially opened up earlier this week and the Indiana football program has seen a large number of its players hitting the portal.

From offense to defense and special teams, nearly 30 players have put their name in.

Now, it’s about evaluating the talent in the portal and making sure this new coaching staff hits on some key pieces — both impact players and depth — for next season.

And, the Indiana football program could be emerging in a two-team battle for an SEC transfer.

South Carolina soon to be redshirt junior wide receiver O’Mega Blake is reportedly hearing most from Indiana and Colorado, according to 247Sports National Reporter Brad Crawford.

The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound wideout had a much improved season in 2023, totaling 250 yards and two touchdowns on 19 catches in eight games. He had five receptions for 86 yards against Georgia — his best performance.

Coming into the season he was named the Co-Offensive Most Improved Player.

In high school, Blake was a quarterback, wideout and defensive back. He had 1,272 yards of total offense and 12 touchdowns as a senior.

Blake has two years of eligibility remaining. Some other programs to reach out have been Georgia, NC State, UAB, Michigan State and others.

Indiana is in desperate need of playmakers at the wide receiver position. This past week it has seen Donaven McCulley, Cam Camper and Jaylin Lucas all enter the portal.

McCulley had 48 receptions for 644 yards and six touchdowns this past season and emerged as one of the top receivers in the Big Ten in the second half of the season once Indiana made its change to Brendan Sorsby at quarterback. Camper totaled 63 receptions for 854 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games across two seasons — both cut short due to injury. Through two years, Lucas totaled 875 yards from scrimmage with six touchdowns. He also had three return touchdowns.
