The first round of the College Football Playoff gets underway this weekend, and one of the most intriguing matchups on the slate kicks off on Friday night between the Indiana Hoosiers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
There is a lot of guessing and speculation surrounding this game, since both teams come into the game with 11-1 records, ranked among the best in the nation. However, due to their schedules, neither team has been tested a whole lot this year. Indiana lost the toughest game on their schedule — at Ohio State — and Notre Dame lost arguably the easiest game on their schedule — vs. Northern Illinois.
It's safe to say that while we may have predictions for this game, there are a lot of outcomes that wouldn't be surprising at all. However, Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke seems to feel confident going into this one. He went as far as to make an incredibly bold proclamation leading up to the Friday night matchup.
Rourke — who is in his final year of eligibility — doesn't just think that Indiana is winning this game, but he predicts that the Hoosiers are still standing after the three games following as well.
“We’ll talk about my last college game in four games," Rourke said when asked about potentially playing for the final time on Friday night.
It may sound brash, but it's the right mentality for a QB to have when entering a win-or-go-home game against a really good team like Notre Dame. At the moment, the Fighting Irish are favored by 7 points at home, with many predicting that the Fighting Irish could go on to potentially win the championship at the end of the year.
The game kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on Friday night, and will be aired on ABC.
