The Arkansas Razorbacks suffered another blow to their tight end room last Saturday when Ty Washington injured his shoulder during their 39-36 victory at Florida. That comes a few weeks after their starter Luke Hasz endured a season ending broke clavicle.

Coach Sam Pittman updated Washington’s status for the season in his press conference this week. A potential return does not seem promising. "Tyrus, he has a dislocated shoulder," Pittman said on Monday. "Probably will involve some surgery. So, he will be out.

On Friday, the Leesburg, Ga., native released a two-part statement updating fans on his recovery while thanking everyone for prayers and well wishes.

”I say Thank God because I want him to know I love him no matter what,” Washington said on his X account. “Good times or bad times, when I’m up or when I’m down. At my lowest, no matter my Faith is strong! Thanks everyone for checking up on me and making sure I was ok! If anything it is Gods plan over everything and I’m sticking to it. I’m happy that I could show Razorback Nation what I could do before the bump in the road happened in his plan! Thank you to everyone for the get well wishes and I hope everyone is doing well too!”

Washington was inserted into the starting lineup against Ole Miss following the loss of Hasz. He was very productive reeling in 11 receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Due to the injuries, Pittman and tight end coach Morgan Turner have to look deep into their position room. Nathan Bax,  Francis Sherman, and Var’Keyes Gumms will likely receive more reps as rotational starters. With those three moving up that gives opportunities to freshman Shamar Easter and walk-on Maddox Lassiter.

Coach Pittman mentioned scout team star, Hunter Talley will get a few looks for potential playing time.

“I just think in this short period of time, Hunter Talley knows the offense better than the other fellas do, and he's really looked good on the scout team as well. So, we'll move him up to be no. 4 there."
