Iowa at Michigan odds: Opening point spread revealed

Saturday will bring a bunch of games between Big Ten opponents. No game will bring more interest than the Michigan Wolverines welcoming the Iowa Hawkeyes to Ann Arbor. It’s one where both teams are ranked, and the tone can be set in the final weekend of September.

Ahead of the Week 4 matchup, the early point spread and more have been revealed as of Tuesday morning. (All odds are courtesy of Polymarket) Michigan has opened as a 5.5-point favorite over Iowa, while the over/under has been set at 37.5 points. Traders say the Wolverines currently have a 66% chance of winning the game.

Somehow, some way, Michigan is undefeated. The Western Michigan result is still at the top of everyone’s mind. Oklahoma was the second victory for first-year head coach Kyle Whittingham. Nonconfernece play wrapped up this past Saturday, beating UTEP quite comfortably.

Iowa also finds itself with an undefeated record through three weeks. Results have looked different, though. Points — yes, points — are being scored by the Hawkeyes. In two games against Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa, they put up 95 of them. Now, CyHawk against Iowa State is a different scoring, squeezing out a 16-13 victory. However, Iowa of years past would take those scorelines any day of the week.

Wide receiver Tony Diaz is a name people around the country learn in Week 4. A transfer from UTRVG, Diaz has caught 17 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown. For reference, Iowa’s leading receiver in 2025, DJ Vonnahme, finished with 434 yards and three touchdowns on 29 receptions.

The most intriguing matchup might be the Michigan offense vs. Iowa defense. One unit would be considered a weakness, while the other is a strength. Quarterback Bryce Underwood appears to still be a work in progress, needing a breakout performance against a Big Ten team. Iowa is about as difficult as it gets in the conference.

Hopefully, a good one takes place in the Big House. Both programs need to start Big Ten play with a record of 1-0. Seasons can certainly swing based on early results, especially when facing ranked teams.
