In an interesting turn of events, a pair of athletes from Iowa State is set to transfer to an in-conference foe, with Brent and Wade Helton heading to Arizona State.
The Helton brothers happen to be identical twins, each of which are viewed as an impressive freshman on the offensive line.
The Helton brothers initially committed to Iowa State in the Class of 2024.
Wade Helton, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman from Corona, California, was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 969th-ranked prospect when coming out of high school. He was listed roughly 350 spots ahead of his twin brother, Brent.
Brent Helton, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound tackle, also from Corona, California, was listed as a three-star prospect by 247Sports as well as the nation’s 1326th-ranked player, the 110th-ranked player at his position, and the 95th-ranked player in the state of California.
The Helton brothers join a group of 12 other transfer portal pickups headed to Arizona State, a group that ranks as the Big 12’s 14th-best and No. 54 in the country.
