Isaac TeSlaa has done a great job of making Detroit Lions fans wary of him being the teams' pick in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft slowly but surely eat their words.
TeSlaa, a wide receiver out of Arkansas, had some great moments during rookie minicamp and has gotten nothing but praise from Lions front office members who are excited about what his size, blocking, and athleticism can bring to their offense. While the Lions have some exciting playmakers at wide receiver already on the roster, TeSlaa is just extra icing on that cake.
In a recent interview with Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother, Equanimeous, TeSlaa endeared himself even more to Detroit faithful with his response to how he feels about the Green Bay Packers, the Lions' NFC North rival.
“Oh I hate the Packers, with a burning passion."
That's exactly what Lions fans want to hear from their players.
TeSlaa might have just said that because he knows how chaotic the fanbase gets about the NFC North rivalries, and he's probably excited to take part in it pretty much off rip this season. Week 1 the Lions face off with the Green Bay Packers on the road, and then take on the Chicago Bears in Week 2 at home. Back to back rivalry games are what dreams are made of for a rookie like TeSlaa.
The rookie also shared with the St. Brown brothers that he had transitioned from being a quarterback to a wide receiver, and that he actually showed up to his pre-draft meeting with the Lions in a customized Lions jersey with his high school number on it. Talk about manifesting an opportunity.

TeSlaa's strong performance during the two bowl games he got invites to - the Hula Bowl and the Senior Bowl - pushed Detroit to prioritize snagging him off the board ahead of other interested teams, like the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. Sure seems like TeSlaa has landed in a very ideal spot with Detroit as the team looks to stay great and get even better in a tough division in 2025.
