Jacoby Windmon showcases hidden talent off the field (Video)

I always find it fascinating to learn about other talents athletes have. We typically only view them as athletes, but more often than not they excel at way more than playing a sport.

2022 season accomplishments

Jacoby had an excellent season a year ago. During the season, he recored 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks in his first season in East Lansing. He also accounted for six forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception as well. Jacoby led our team and the entire country in some stats because of his great play on the field.

His six forced fumbles was enough to lead the FBS and was second most all time in one season at Michigan State. He also led the team with 5.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. Windmon also accumulated 17 quarterback pressures, which was enough for second-best on the team.

These stats led Windmon to win many weekly awards during the season. He won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week three different times last year. He is the first Spartan and only sixth player to ever accomplish that. Windmon also became only the fifth Spartan ever to win back-to-back Big Ten Player of the Week awards.

Lastly, Jacoby won national defensive player of the week twice as well. All of this is amazing for any player in a given season, but it is important to remember how much better it could have been.

Big season incoming for Windmon

Windmon accomplished everything mentioned above in only eight games. That’s right, he lead the country in forced fumbles while only playing in two-thirds of the games. This was due to the four-game suspension handed to Jacoby due to the Michigan tunnel incident.

If Jacoby is able to pick up from where he left off last season, we could witness greatness this season. He is a fifth year senior and will be the leader of a very deep linebacker group. The linebacker room could be one of the best for Michigan State this season, and we are going to have to rely on them if we want to turn things around from a season ago. I can’t wait to see how Jacoby handles this season after what went down last year, and I believe he will be one of our better players and leaders this season.
